Forgive me, wallet, for I have sinned
I admit, I pre-ordered another album… But 15 euros for a nice Tom McRae live CD delivered on your doormat cannot be a bad thing, right?
(it’s only available via Toms official site)
The reason I’m writing about this, is because a couple of months ago, a Tom McRae fan visited my Dutch blog. She noticed I had written about the Amsterdam gig I attended in May 2007. I recorded the gig with my iRiver H320 and a cheap external mic. I put some MP3s up and as usual I promised to upload the rest later (which I didn’t). So she wrote to me asking whether she could have the whole gig on a CD.
There’s a reason I don’t trade bootlegs anymore… It often takes me months to get to the post office. I don’t know why, it just does. But I thought “what the hell, why not?” But thanks to a computer crash, I wasn’t able to find the recordings. That actually saddened me as well, because even though I hadn’t really listened to the gig in a year, I had fond memories of that night. So I emailed the girl that the files had been lost. End of story or so I thought.
Now, two weeks ago I was working on the family PC and cleaning up some old files. And checking a weird folder I stumbled upon some large .wav files. There was the Tom McRae gig I had been looking for. I emailed the girl to tell her I found the gig she wanted. I was going to just burn the file on a CD and send it, but she sent two lovely bootlegs first and I thought: “well, I’ll cut it up in tracks as well, that way I might actually listen to it as well.” So that’s what I’ve done. Here’s some of my favourite songs from the gig. The package is going out today or tomorrow or on Monday – but here’s some tracks from the gig for YOU:
Enjoyez-vous.
My Vampire Heart
Streetlight
Ghost of a Shark
(imagining the quality ten times better should be enough reason to buy the new Tom McRae live CD
).
